Columbia River Basin Chapter
The PMI-CRBC chapter is comprised of 180+
members, 80% of whom are either government contractors or employees of
the U.S. Department of Energy, involved in research and development at
the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory or in clean-up of the waste
generated at the Hanford site from the production of nuclear weapons
during the cold war. The 20% non-DOE members are distributed among local
hospitals, banks, and other businesses. Membership has increased from
120 members to 180 in the past two years, and continued growth is
anticipated for the next year or two as the federal budget is being
shifted from DOE to pay for the war in Iraq or the restoration efforts
on the Gulf Coast, following the hurricanes of 2005. The chapter
activities primarily consist of monthly meetings with a presentation on
projects or project management topics, a Project of the Year competition
(with the winners named in March), and assorted classes provided by REPs.
Some monthly meetings are jointly sponsored with other professional
organizations. Finally, occasional community service projects are
supported by volunteers.
Western Idaho Chapter
The PMI-WIC chapter is comprised of 250+
members, with an emphasis on high-tech and information technology.
Main employers include Hewlett Packard, Micron, CRI Advantage,
Albertson, and the Idaho State government. We have monthly dinner
programs and monthly luncheon round-tables. We occasionally host
PMP study groups through the use of volunteer PMP facilitators. A flyer
for the chapter may be found at this

Portland Chapter
The PMI-Portland chapter (www.pmi-portland.org)
is comprised of approximately 1,000 members. The chapter fact
sheet may be found through this link
and the chapter brochure may be found through

Southern Alberta Chapter
The PMI-Southern Alberta Chapter (PMI-SAC) currently has more than 1,200 members, with slightly more than half of those holding their PMP designation. Over the last year the chapter membership grew by an amazing 32%, this on the heels of a few years where growth and interest in the chapter was less dramatic. In 2005, PMI-SAC celebrated its 25th anniversary, and helped celebrate this milestone with an Awards Gala Evening in which nine Project Management awards were presented to various individuals and organizations for their excellence in the field of project management. Concurrently, a two-day Professional Development Conference was held, and with more than 200 participants and speakers from across Canada, the event was a rousing success.
Oil and gas is the primary driver of the economy in southern Alberta, but our members represent a wide variety of trades including engineering, construction, telecom, health care, product development, information technology, and government. PMI-SAC holds a monthly dinner-meeting, which is regularly attended by 100+ individuals, both members and non-members alike. In addition, there is a quarterly brown-bag lunch ‘n learn session. The chapter also supports local college PMP-prep sessions, golf tournaments in conjunction with industry groups, and will soon engage in a PM-mentor program and Executive Breakfast sessions.
