The Event

The PMIWIC PDD is the annual event for professionals in project management. During this afternoon event, you’ll have the opportunity to learn, share insights, and network with like-minded professionals from throughout the Treasure Valley. Take advantage of your chance to earn up to 4 PDUs to help maintain the certification you’ve worked so hard to achieve! When you leave, you’ll take with you knowledge and skills that you can apply immediately. This year PMIWIC’s PDD will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the Galaxy Event Center (within the Wahooz Family Fun Zone), located at 1385 S Blue Marlin Lane, in Meridian.

Registration is only $99 – you do not need to be a PMIWIC member to attend! Registration includes free all-day soda, lunch and afternoon snacks. Earn an extra raffle ticket for early registration- just register BEFORE Jan 30th! Registration closes on March 9th at midnight.

Sure, their heads are nodding and they even look bought in to your idea, but, when the rubber meets the road, you already know that no one is going to change their behavior. You’re not alone. Most change efforts die before they even start simply because of the way in which the idea is delivered and the simple things that are or are not said. But it doesn’t have to be this way. And, with his experience helping some of the largest companies in the world successfully navigate culture change as well as thousands of leaders tackle mindset and behavior change, Brian Fretwell is going to show you the secrets of effectively getting people to listen. In this one hour keynote, you will learn the three most common reasons why, even when you have the best idea, people don’t listen. “Why People Don’t Listen” will help you identify the things you are likely doing right and the things that you might need to modify in order to get people to jump on board with your new plans and follow a different direction. More important, you will learn key actions and insights that will help you be more successful in not only getting people to listen, but getting them to change.

About the Keynote Speaker… Brian Fretwell began his career as a teacher in a juvenile corrections facility while completing his MBA. Brian works as a consultant to some of the largest psychology and neuroscience-based culture change consulting companies in the world. In this role, he has run workshops on Leadership, Unconscious Bias, Communication and of Safety from a brain-based perspective around the world. Brian’s specialty is working in environments where the outcomes of culture change initiatives have a big impact on the people in the organization. From Miners in the Outback of Australia changing mindsets for better safety outcomes, Tech Companies in Silicon Valley changing leadership mindsets to keep up with the changing workforce, to Entertainment Companies in Los Angeles changing old ways of working in the wake of the MeToo movement, Brian has been on the front lines of some of the most critical people change initiatives of our times. Brian is the author of a book titled “Experts of Our Potential,” a book about how we provide value in our professional lives has changed and what to do about it. Brian has also given a TEDx talk entitled “What a Fifteen-Year-Old Meth Addict Taught Me about Leadership” which has been viewed by close to two million people.

Speed Networking: Encouraging Interaction in a Professional Setting Speed Networking is a fun way to meet new people in your profession, exchange ideas and best practices, practice active listening and impromptu speaking, and grow your professional network. Participants receive a passport to be completed with stickers for each table (network session) they attend. Each table will have a topic based on segments of the Talent Triangle: Leadership,  Strategic and Business Management, and Technical Project Management, including ice breaker questions.  When the bell sounds indicating the beginning of a network session, participants start with a quick round of introductions, then dive into a lively discussion around the questions and the topics for ten minutes.  [Participants are encouraged to bring business cards to exchange at each network session.]   When the bell sounds again, participants stop their discussions, affix table stickers to their passports, then move to another table, to start the process over with a different topic and a different group.  Participants receive a raffle ticket by submitting their completed passports.

About the Speaker A practiced professional with 20+ years of experience implementing and managing technology solutions for numerous diverse industries, PMIWIC Vice President of Finance, Colleen Sollars obtained her PMP certification and became an active member of the PMIWIC in 2009. She later added a PMI-ACP certification in 2014 and became an Agile trainer for the PMIWIC, and has taught several Agile Boot Camps over the last several years. Colleen has been working at HP Inc. for over 23 years, where she has served in various project management, people management, and program management roles, leading complex software/infrastructure programs, as well as globally distributed virtual teams. Colleen holds a  B.S. degree in Business Management with concentrations in Finance and MIS from SUNY at Buffalo, in Buffalo, New York and an M.B.A. degree in Telecommunications Management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California.

Jeff Jensen, ITIL 4 Managing Professional, ITIL v3 Expert, DevOps Leader, PMP | Founder, I Train IT Leaders LLC

Implementing Multiple Best Practice Frameworks – Adopt and Adapt An experienced and recognized thought leader across multiple best practice frameworks, Jeff Jensen drives continual improvement across both technical IT teams and customer organizations, resulting in higher performance and improved efficiencies while reducing costs.  Jeff is an ITIL 4 Managing Professional, ITIL v3 Expert, DevOps Leader, and has been a PMP since 2008.  Jeff has strong expertise in Agile Service Management, DevOps Leadership, Strategic Planning, Process Design, Program Management, and Continual Improvement. He started his career as a systems engineer in the IT organization supporting design, engineering, and manufacturing business units for a large semiconductor company.  Jeff quickly moved into a leadership role managing IT Operations at the largest site for the company, and then managing teams located in multiple sites and eventually global geographies.  In addition to well over a decade of the semi-conductor industry experience, Jeff has worked in the retail, engineering, and managed services industries as a PMO Coach and Leader, Application Support Manager, Process Improvement Architect, Service Management Office Lead, and a Customer Success Manager.  Since starting his own company, I Train IT Leaders LLC, in 2017, Jeff has led digital transformation efforts for a large multinational company, and architected and chaired a multi-million dollar program designed to bring ITSM and DevOps practices into global product and technology organizations which successfully improved organizational alignment and operational stability while reducing costs.  Jeff is also the Co-Founder and President of the Boise ITSM local interest group, and he enjoys mentoring, coaching, and collaborating with his peers in the ITSM, Agile, and DevOps communities.  He has delivered multiple training classes and presentations in ITSM and DevOps practices to audiences including ITSM Academy Webinars, DevOps Days, Project Management Institute chapter meetings, and local technology shows

Rod Reed, PMP | Vice President of Membership, PMIWIC

Microsoft Project: Then… and Now PMIWIC Vice President of Membership, Rod Reed, has 30 years of experience in the IT industry, with ten years focused on Project Management.  For the last 21 years, he has worked for Idaho Transportation Department ITD) in various IT and Project Management roles. After graduating University of Idaho in Computer Science, Rod spent several years in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer. Returning to Boise, Rod worked in various IT jobs before being afforded the opportunity to manage the project server environment for the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD).  Rod has fostered a culture of Project Management in the Division of Highways over the last seven years for the civil engineering projects that build and maintain the statewide highway system.  Rod is a Microsoft Certified Technician, and in 2014, he became a certified PMP and joined the PMIWIC membership . He is currently in his second year volunteering on the PMIWIC Board.

Engaging Stakeholders:  Developing Relationships to Drive Project Success We all know how we engage with our stakeholders impacts the success of our projects, especially when considering [their] successful adoption. Whether they are humble or very self-confident, leader or introvert, coach or controller, open to feedback or not… this is what we face. As facilitators of change, we have the opportunity to influence the course of the conversations and the end results of the project. Led by the founders of the Boise Change Management Exchange, this active workshop will explore how to engage with stakeholders to ensure you understand their perspective and identify methods to develop those relationships that support the common goal of leading the project to success.

About the Speakers Loury, Johnson and Fenicottero are co-Founders of Boise Change Management Exchange, and hold different individual leadership roles as well. Lorraine Loury is a change management and communications consultant. Moving from France 1.5 years ago with her husband and 3 kids, Lorraine developed her own business, Collective Pulse. Firstly, for some of her French clients she didn’t want to leave but also for local needs. She supports her clients in driving their transformation projects with their employees: get commitment, encourage cooperation to trigger the transformation, give meaning to the change… Because she is convinced that these projects need employees’ active involvement to be successfully achieved. That we have to give them the floor and get them on the same page to make change happen.   Amber Johnson is a culture coach who helps businesses intentionally create their unique company culture to inspire both business and individual success, this includes how a company’s culture influences how they approach change. She has over 25 years of experience as a human performance strategist with large corporations, start-ups, and private equity companies. Before returning to her hometown Boise and launching amberland, the majority of her career was at Starbucks Coffee Company corporate where she led employee engagement, learning, change management, process and internal communication projects. Diana Fenicottero is a training and employee development professional, who has worked for large corporations and small organizations. She is currently the Director of Talent Development for Iliad Media Group. Her expertise lies in creating custom and innovative learning tools for each organization. These tools are customized to drive the individual results required by each organization yet keep the integrity of learning in high esteem. Diana has supported organizations such as UPS, Bullfrog.com, GoWireless, and Iliad Media Group.
