December Dinner Meeting Recap

Thank you to Katy Slater, PMP, for an amazing and insightful presentation last night! For those that weren’t able to attend, you missed out on a real treat. Katy described how she applied a classic waterfall methodology to boost The Walt Disney Company’s corporate global stewardship.

With the meeting at Barbacoa Grill, everything was complete – a great speaker, lively environment and exciting foods. The room was filled to capacity, which made for great networking and getting to know the others in the room. And we had several raffles of books, gift baskets and amazon gifts cards.

Katy’s presentation described how the magic kingdom and happiest place on Earth work hard to make sure that all the products Disney sells or gives away for promotions meet safety, environmental and labor standards for manufacturing. This is a big job! There are around 65K requests for product reviews each year.  Katy and her team delivered the custom system that manages the workflow to track all these requests.

Katy used the ASAP methodology of implementation, a classic waterfall model, and shared how the team’s success was made possible through real time corrections when the colorful, impressive, free-flowing, abstract and often surrealistic pieces of the global implementation took place.

And once again, PMIWIC would like to thank TEKSystems for sponsoring the End of Year Celebration!
